Dear amazing Donors
BSFA and SHUMAS have just given us the greatest honour of allowing us to come visit Cameroon and see the amazing work that they do. During our trip we travelled all over the country, seeing the potential that the diverse landscape and motivated labour force have to offer. The most notable thing that we saw from the SHUMAS team was their amazing collaborative approach. Working with the community to supply local materials and help with the construction of the projects allows for renovation, maintenance and in some cases they were able to create their own structures to a quality standard through replication of the process.
We can’t thank you enough for the incredible experience of doing charity work with you in Cameroon. It was an eye-opening experience like no other! From exploring the lush jungles to conquering the breathtaking mountains, every moment was filled with awe-inspiring beauty and an exceptional and fascinating culture.
Moreover, we were truly moved by the incredible impact the charity is making in the country. The work they do to empower communities, provide education, and improve livelihoods is truly remarkable. From broken down health centres to mud huts used as schools deep in the jungle, SHUMAS provide the right and most effective help to these unattended and poor environments. They are making a lasting difference in the lives of so many people. We noticed this especially with the internally displaced women (IDPs). When interviewing these tragically affected people both for feasibility studies and impact assessments, we could really see just how far SHUMAS’s help took them. Their work helped these women get back on their feet and create a new constructive life of their own. And most importantly, reintroducing a sense of hope and productivity by training and providing them with the necessary equipment to carry out a way of earning a salary to provide and care for themselves but primarily for their families.
Undoubtedly an extra highlight was afforded to us in being able to spend time in the presence of his highness paramount Fo’o, and to meet and appraise his excellency the Ambassador to Great Britain. We hope that bringing SHUMAS to their attention will enable even greater support for the vital work and critical programmes in the future.
Thank you once again for this life-changing experience. It was an honour to be a part of your on-going mission.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Monty and Oby
