We are excited to be funding another school building project in the Far North region this year. The school that will be benefitting from a new classroom block, latrine with hand washing facilities and COVID 19 prevention materials is CETIC de Kongola in Maroua 111 Sub-Division.
CETIC Kongola is the only Technical College in the locality, serving over 80 communities and it currently has 592 students and 44 teachers – but only three well constructed classrooms provided by the state. There are a couple of classrooms that are made from mud bricks and the rest are made from woven grass panels. Many of the students have their classes under the trees. There aren’t enough benches for the children to sit at: the makeshift classrooms have animals wandering through and sleeping in them at night and the level of hygiene is very poor. Pupils become sick and their work often gets ruined in the occasional heavy rain and flash floods.
This project is going to make the world of difference to these students and their communities, and we are very proud that our supporters at Gompels Healthcare have been able to provide the funds for these new facilities.
