We are extremely pleased that we have been able to repeat our very successful pilot project of last year, where we provided catch-up lessons at Neighbourhood Learning Corners in Babessi (NW Region) and Galim (West Region) for almost 300 children who had missed out on education because of school closures over the past ten years. The vast majority of those children have now been placed in nearby primary schools and are doing well.
This year’s cohort of pupils have now made the transition from Neighbourhood Learning Corners to formal education and one of the girls from Babessi is speaking in the video below of the advances she has made in just a few short months of intense catch-up lessons.
This year we also included training in small business management for the parents/carers of these children and provided them with start-up materials for their businesses, so that they are able to earn a livelihood and provide for their children in future. Please watch the video below.
