Friday 20th February 2015 was another great day for secondary education in NW Cameroon, with another two Technical Secondary Schools getting new classrooms blocks for their pupils. Government Technical College (GTC) Ntigi in Bambili got four new classrooms and GTC Nkeung got three. Both schools also benefitted from 27 benches for the children to sit at, tables and chairs for the teachers, a new latrine, a new water tap for clean drinking water and tools and seeds for the school farm. Special guests at the opening ceremonies were the Governor of the NW Region and the main technical adviser for the Ministry of Secondary Education.
Children who attend these technical secondary schools not only study the usual secondary curriculum but also take classes in technical subjects like construction, accounting or carpentry, so that they have a greater chance of employment when they leave school. They are very popular with pupils and their parents, particularly in the rural areas.
