Sometimes just very small donations can help many children get back to school. Can you help?
When families are displaced because of war, they lose everything they own and they have to rebuild their lives from scratch when they reach a place of relative safety. Hundreds of displaced children have missed out on education because schools have been closed for the past ten years. Many have recently benefitted from the Neighbourhood Learning Corner catch-up classes that we have been funding, but they need more in order to go back to formal school and not face stigmatisation. Such items are very inexpensive for us – but are far too expensive for these families to afford.
School fees, for example, cost just £20 for a whole year.
Primary school uniforms help children feel that they ‘fit in’ with their classmates. They cost just £10.50 per child.
A school bag costs £8. Pens, pencils, rulers and exercise books cost £8.50 Primary school text books just £9.50
Many families also need help with basic essentials for living – a tarpaulin to keep out the rain, mattresses to sleep on, mosquito nets, to protect against malaria, and containers for storing water.
