At last! Clean drinking water for Bagham

by | May 25, 2026 | BSFA News, Improving Lives News

The village of Bagham is in a very dry part of the West Region of Cameroon.  It is a safe and welcoming village and has accommodated hundreds of IDPs from the NWR in recent years, but there has never been a source of clean drinking water in this village …. until now!

The construction of a 100m deep borehole, with a solar powered pump linked to a large holding tank which feeds stand taps at the local school, the market and the area around the palace, means that the whole community can access clean water for the first time ever.  It seems impossible to us here in the wealthy west that clean drinking water is still a dream to many people.

The impact is already huge and will increase further.  The incidence of water borne diseases will reduce (saving money that would have to be spent on hospital fees for the sick and can be spent on school fees instead); children will no longer have to carry water from streams to their homes and their school before lessons can start for the day; they will be healthier and have more energy for their school work – and it is anticipated that academic performance will improve significantly.

Thank you to our generous supporters at Positech who were very happy to fund this project.
