An unexpected boost

We have had an unexpected and generous donation which will really give a boost to the students with disabilities at the SHUMAS Rehabilitation Centre. For some years now SHUMAS has been training young adult students with various physical and/or mental difficulties, in a variety of trades in order to allow each of them to earn a living and lead a more independent life. Students choose a trade most suitable to their abilities – it could be tailoring, shoe-making and mending, cane weaving, jewellery-making, hairdressing etc and, once fully trained, they graduate with a certificate of competence and are given materials to start their business and support until they are established.  This donation will allow SHUMAS to invest in additional training materials and provide start-up materials for future graduates.

The picture above shows a recent group of graduates from this programme with their start-up materials.
