The UN has recently announced that the number of anglophones who have become displaced since the start of the political crisis in 2016 has doubled since 2018. There are now a million IDPs from the NW and SW regions of Cameroon – very many of whom have fled to the jungle regions to escape the violence. They have lost everything: their homes, their villages, their livelihoods, their farms, family members …. everything. Rape is a common weapon in this kind of crisis and many school-aged girls have become pregnant and have had to give birth in the jungle, having received no ante-natal care. Infant mortality rates and maternal mortality rates are on the rise. It is a desperate situation.
We are running a special appeal to raise funds to help 1000 IDPs who are in crisis. It’s not enough – but it is at least a start. Please help us – see our appeal on our website Home Page. Remember that every single penny you donate will go directly to this appeal, with absolutely no deductions.
